There are many ways to help: wearing black, joining a march in your town, or (as it turns out) writing a poem.

The man who owns you wants to have you now
And he will waste no time on little things
Like condoms or like asking if you care,
The man who owns you wants to have his way.

The seed which owns you only wants one thing:
Move on and on until the job is done,
Propel, explode, make nine months start tonight,
The seed which owns you wants to do the life.

The priest who owns you wants more souls to own
And minds to rule and pockets to dig in,
Some cut your cunts, the muslims – he would not,
The priest who owns you only wants your child.

The doctor owning you is owned in turn
By nurses’ frowns and bosses’ Excel sheets
And cuts in funds and which way winds now blow,
The doctor owning you can’t heal himself.

The state which owns you needs your children’s tax
And tired votes which heed the masters’ whips
And quiet work at home where there’s no pay.
The state which owns you needs a docile womb.

The filth which owns you knows you want it, bitch,
You came out asking for it dressed like that,
And you could be my daughter, and you are,
So what – the filth which owns you feeds on this.

The faith which owns you feels it’s meant to be.
Mysterious ways, the miracle of life,
Just bear that cross and Jesus will provide.
The faith which owns you only hears one name.

The web which owns you counts on its own weight.
On things that always were the way they are.
On dark damp past of shame and guilt and talk.
The web which owns you prays you won’t talk back.
